The UK business travel market is set for a major shakeup with the announcement that Click and Trip has been acquired by US-based TravelPerk. Founded in 1999, Click Travel is one of the UK’s fastest growing corporate travel management companies with an award-winning all-in-one booking platform that reduces cost and complexity for 2,000+ clients such as Five Guys, Red Bull and Talk Talk. The acquisition of Click Travel will enable TravelPerk to deliver a 7-star experience for global business travelers throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond. The transaction was funded by Boston-based investment manager Baupost Group and will include all employees, technology and customer base.
Founded in 2015, TravelPerk is the next-generation travel platform pioneering the future of business travel. With a mission to bring the benefits of next-generation tech to everyone involved in the travel process, TravelPerk’s all-in-one platform gives travelers the freedom they want whilst ensuring their employers get the control they need.
The deal marks the third and largest acquisition for TravelPerk which has been on a buying spree since the start of the pandemic, picking up risk management startup Albatross in summer 2020 and US-based NexTravel in January of this year to significantly accelerate growth in the US market. TravelPerk says it has no plans to lay off any of Click and Trip’s 150-strong team and will continue to operate the platforms separately for now, but an eventual full integration is in the works with Birmingham becoming a second UK hub (alongside the company’s existing London office). Click and Trip customers will be able to access the new platform immediately with no disruption to their existing services.
