Bimatoprost eyelash serum is an FDA-approved prescription medication that enhances the appearance of eyelashes over time by making them longer, thicker and darker. It was first developed as a glaucoma treatment drug called Lumigan, and after some people noticed that their eyelashes were getting longer and fuller while using it, it was repurposed as a cosmetic product with the brand name Latisse. It’s a prostaglandin analog that increases the length of the anagen or growth phase of the eyelash hairs and promotes new growth.
The most common side effects of bimatoprost are irritated eyes and itchy eyelids, which usually go away after the body adjusts to the medication. However, if they persist or get worse, talk to your doctor right away.
There are also reports of darkening of the iris (colored part of the eye) and eyelid skin, but this effect is likely temporary and will reverse once you stop using the drug. The medication can also cause a change in the color of your sclera (white of the eye) which may be permanent.
Use a clean applicator every day to apply the medication directly onto the upper eyelid at the base of your eyelashes. Be sure not to get any of the solution in your eyes or on other parts of your face. If you do, blot it away with a tissue before applying the next dose.
You should not use more than the recommended dosage, and it will take up to 2 months before you see the maximum benefit. You should try to apply the medication once a day before bedtime. bimatoprost eyelash serum
