Clipping Path
The expertise of the pen tool is a must if you want to draw clean paths along the edge of your subject(s). Often, you may need a hand-drawn clipping path around your subject to cut out the subject from the background for product photography, jewelry, or others.
This is a convenient tool, and it makes your image retouching life a lot easier.
Using the pen tool, however, does not come easy. Drawing seamlessly smooth lines is something that you will gain through much practice. It is one of the more complicated tools to master. However, if you master this tool, it will make your paths very smooth, no matter how complex the subjects’ edges may be.
Clipping paths are required in portrait photography, jewelry, product, and anything that needs subject isolation for further photo retouching (most genres of photography apply to this).
Background Removal
This is especially useful for e-commerce. For example, product and model photography with mannequins will often require you to remove the background with no jagged or wobbly lines flawlessly.
If you have managed to learn the clipping path well enough, half your work is already done. Next, you can draw a path around the subject and remove the deselected areas, including the background. This is a nifty trick used by many.
Preparing photos for e-commerce will require you to remove photo backgrounds and often make them plain white or a background that suits the needs of the image and customer.
Additionally, you would also need to make minor adjustments after the removal process, like adding a slight blur to the edges of the picture to add an anti-aliasing effect. This will get rid of pixelated edges and make the edges look smooth and seamless.
Shadow making services
Being able to add shadows is an integral part of photo retouching. Unfortunately, this is one of the essential things that some photographers ignore when editing their images.
